Full Moon @ Chelsea Nain
If anyone happened to glance outside last night you couldn’t help but notice the moon. It was breathtaking. I couldn’t resist a few photos. (really need to study up on my photography again, I’ve never gotten use to these digital cameras and they have so much to offer).

Tonight between 8:00 and 1:00 there is going to be a Lunar Eclipse. It promises to be spectacular if the weather cooperates.

Try not to miss it; there will not be another this great until 2010. From 10:00 till 10:52 the Moon will be completely in the Earth’s Shadow, and at this point it will have an incredible red glow.

I continue to love this Astronomy Class I am taking. This stuff is so fascinating. Here is an example; I learned this today.

It takes the energy photons created at the Sun’s core, 170,000 years to reach the surface of the Sun. From that point it takes just 8.3 minutes to travel from there to us on Earth.

Incredible! And whats even more incredible? I know why!

Now here is a sad fact:

35% of adult U.S. citizens think that the Sun orbits the Earth.

Amazing!!!!

Thankfully I was not in that 35% even before studying Astronomy. Were you?
